2024 Spring ‘Experience the UAC Day (EXP+UAC Day)’

The University of Utah Asia Campus (CAO: Gregory Cash Hill) hosted the “Experience the UAC Day (EXP+UAC Day)” event on May 25th, allowing domestic and international middle and high school students to attend a variety of major lectures offered by the University of Utah Asia Campus.

During the event, students participated in 30-minute lectures, conducted in both the morning and afternoon, from professors in various departments including Accounting (Professor Sunghee Kim), Communication (Professor Paul Rose), Electrical and Computer Engineering (Professor Fatemeh Mahalian), Film and Media Arts (Professor Simon McEnteggart), Games (Professor R. Michael Young), Information Systems (Professor Byoung-gyu Gong), Psychology (Professor Carina Pals), and Urban Ecology (Professors Reazul Ahsan and Idil Ayral) . Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to learn about career paths and internships and engage in a Q&A session with student ambassadors.

This 14th semester event recorded the highest attendance since the campus opened in 2014, with over 400 participants including approximately 300 students, along with parents and teachers.

Dylan Cruz, a 14-year-old student from Humphreys High School in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, commented, “My older brother is set to enroll at the University of Utah Asia Campus this fall, so I have naturally been interested in the Asia Campus and its Urban Ecology program. It was great to experience the major class, and I plan to highly recommend it to my friends and schoolmates.”

Professor Fatemeh Mahalian, who conducted the Electrical and Computer Engineering lecture, remarked, “The number of students attending and applying to the University of Utah Asia Campus after experiencing the major lectures at this event increases every year. Given the high satisfaction among participants, I encourage interested students to attend as it can significantly aid in their career decisions.”
