Sunghee Kim

Assistant Professor (Lecturer)
Sunghee Kim is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah. Prior to joining the University of Utah, he held academic positions at The State University of New York Korea, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Yonsei University. Earlier in his career, He began his professional journey as a CPA and business consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Korea and later co-founded a startup company. He earned his Master of Science in Business Administration - Accounting, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry Education from Seoul National University. His main research interests lie in Financial Accounting, Accounting Standards, and Financial Statement Analysis. As a dedicated educator, he has consistently delivered lectures on accounting and finance, particularly to entrepreneurs of startup companies. His credentials and awards include a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license from the Washington State Board of Accountancy in the United States, an Enrolled Agent (EA) designation from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, a Foreign Certified Public Accountant from the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a Certificate of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Talent Medal of Korea presented by the President of the Republic of Korea. He served with the Eighth United States Army as a Korean Augmentation to the United States Army. His service was recognized with the Army Commendation Medal and two Army Achievement Medals. Beyond his military service, Sunghee Kim has actively supported veterans. He had held key roles in organizations like the Korea Defense Veterans Association, KATUSA Veterans Association, and the Korea-US Alliance Foundation.
