María Teresa Martínez-García (Maite) is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Language Department at the University of Utah, Asia Campus since August 2021. Before relocating to Songdo, she was an Assistant Professor in the Spanish Department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. She is originally from Alicante (Spain) and holds an undergraduate in English translation and interpreting from the University of Alicante, an MA in Linguistics from the University of North Texas, and a second MA in Linguistics, and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Kansas (in the USA). Her research interests lie in two main areas: Second language (L2) speech perception and bilingualism, and her work has been presented in international conferences and published in top-rated journals. Before moving to Songdo, she also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS), as a visiting assistant professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce (Dallas, Texas), and collaborated with the Linguistics and Cognitive Sciences department at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies - Global Campus (Yongin, South Korea) and with the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC, Barcelona, Spain).
