General Overview of Scholarship Programs at UAC
Scholarship Programs at the University of Utah Asia Campus
At the University of Utah Asia Campus, we reward outstanding applicants for their academic excellence, leadership capacity, extracurricular activities, and commitment to community as well as awards and other non-academic factors.
Students are responsible for reviewing, understanding, and abiding by the University’s regulations, procedures, requirements, and deadlines as described in official publications. This includes, by way of example only, the Undergraduate Bulletin, the University Conduct Code, the Student Handbook, and class schedules.
Acceptance of an individual scholarship award is an agreement to the terms and conditions of that award as well as all policies governing the University of Utah Asia Campus. A student’s funds may not exceed the direct tuition cost (tuition and fees). Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts based upon the UAC Scholarship Committee’s review of applicants’ academic excellence, extracurricular activities, individual talents, and other external factors such as financial circumstances. The UAC awards many scholarships to students who begin in either the Fall or the Spring semester. Scholarships may be awarded to US and non-US citizens.
Academic Excellence: Based on unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) for grades nine through twelve, post-secondary academic achievement (if applicable), and standardized test scores.
Non-Academic Factors: Based on a student’s leadership capacity, extracurricular activities, individual talents, ability to contribute to the diversity of the campus, and other external factors.
Financial Need: Based on demonstrated financial need.
- Full-time enrollment (12 credits) at the University of Utah Asia Campus is required for all UAC scholarship recipients.
- UAC reserves the right to adjust individual scholarship awards after letters have been accepted to ensure effective use of university funds.
- If a recipient discontinues their study at the UAC, the scholarship will be terminated.
- Renewable awards are contingent upon maintaining a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and meeting all other conditions of the renewal criteria as specified for each scholarship.
- All scholarship recipients must complete annual thank you letters.
UAC scholarship students may take approved leave of absence for up to two (2) consecutive semesters and still retain their scholarship for issues such as medical withdraw, financial concerns and being a full-time student at another institution for an academic purpose or international experience. Permission for retaining a scholarship must be obtained from the Dean of Students.
Students with reported military leave will automatically retain their scholarship.
A scholarship recipient who enrolls less than full-time, withdraws, is suspended or dismissed from the University will lose their scholarship and may reapply after reinstatement and/or student is back in full time status and in good academic standing.
