Bio

Renowned for his excellence in breathing new life into the traditional repertoire, presenting new works by living composers, and charismatic stage presence, Jong-hun Bae continues to attract international attention.

His conducting posts have included Guest Assistant Conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Assistant Conductor for the Baltimore Opera Company, Resident Conductor for the Salt Lake Symphony, Associate Conductor for the Peabody Chamber Opera, Assistant Conductor for the Utah Lyric Opera, and others.

Jong-hun’s concert engagements have included appearances with leading orchestras throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, among them, St. Petersburg State Academic Symphony Orchestra, Leipziger Symphonieorchester, Orchestra Simfonica a Filarmonicii “Mihail Jora,” Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Aurora Symphony, and DIO (Daegu International Opera) Orchestra.

In addition, he has been invited to conduct at the important performance venues throughout the world, including Gewandhaus, Leipzig (Germany), Carnegie Hall, New York; Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Philadelphia (USA), Place des Arts, Montréal; National Arts Centre, Ottawa (Canada), Auditorio Nacional, México City (México), Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Firenze; Teatro di San Carlo, Napoli (Italy), Opéra Berlioz, Montpellier (France), and others.

Jong-hun has worked with renowned conductors as an assistant conductor, such as Colin Metters, Marin Alsop, Anton Armstrong, Christian Badea, Oliver von Dohananyi, Hans Graf, and others.

He has studied at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University, mentored by the legendary conducting pedagogue Gustav Meier. While studying at the Peabody, he served as a Guest Assistant Conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and for the Baltimore Opera Company.
