Bio

Jamie L. Smith holds a Phd in English Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Utah and an MFA from Hunter College. She is the author of The Flightless Years (2024) and Trojan Horses: Voices from the Opioid Crisis, winner of the 2025 Unleash Book Prize. Her chapbook "Mythology Lessons" was winner of Tusculum Review's 2020 Nonfiction Prize and is listed as notable in Best American Essays 2021. Her poetry, nonfiction, and hybrid works appear in publications including Best New Poets 2024, Southern Humanities Review, Bellevue Literary Review, The Good Life Literary Review, and anthologies by Indi(e) Blue, Allegory Ridge, and Beyond Queer Words.
