Dr. June-Young Lee and Eunbee Cho from UAC Communication Department Honored by the Mayor of Incheon

The Mayor of Incheon has recognized Dr. June-Young Lee, an Assistant Professor in the Communication Department at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC), and Eunbee Cho, a sophomore majoring in Communication, for their outstanding contributions to the local community.

At a year-end celebration hosted by the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZA) in Songdo on December 13, 2024, Dr. Lee and Eunbee Cho received awards from the Incheon Mayor Jeong-bok Yoo for their efforts to improve the lives of international residents in the region.

Since August, Dr. Lee and Eunbee have been leading the production of video content designed for international residents living in Songdo, Cheongna, and Yeongjong International Cities. Their content covers a range of topics, including practical information for daily life, visits to foreigner-friendly businesses, and introductions to historical sites in Incheon—all tailored to the sensibilities of younger generations like Millennials and Generation Z.

This initiative is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in August between the University of Utah Asia Campus and the IFEZA. Under this agreement, Dr. Lee and UAC Communication students have been producing video content weekly as part of the university’s global content internship program.

“As a state university in the United States, the University of Utah has a tradition of contributing to its local communities,” said Dr. June-Young Lee. “We are proud to support the residents of Incheon and will continue to do our part to serve this vibrant city.”
