Prof. Schwindt received his B.A. and M.A. in English from California State University, Chico. He began his teaching career in Taiwan, where he used Film Production to augment his high school English conversation curriculum. After three years in Taiwan and one semester at Sacramento City College, he went on to serve as an English Language Fellow at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey, where he founded the Hamsi Studios Film Club and Hamsi Film Festival and cofounded the Kanuni Film Club at Kanuni Anatolian High School. He presented on his experiences at the 2010 Nile TESOL Conference at the American University of Cairo and again as an English Language Specialist on a return visit to Turkey in 2011. Following his fellowship, he earned his MFA in Film and Media Arts at the University of Utah, where he taught courses in film production and film history and wrote, directed and produced the film “Funeral Detail", loosely based on an experience he had as a soldier in the U.S. Army. The film screened at the Big Easy Film Festival, the Sacramento International Film Festival and the Utah Arts Fest’s “Fear no Film" Festival. where it won the Audience Award in its category.
