Student Volunteering at the 27th Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences (KSBNS) Conference

With the arrival of autumn, a new opportunity emerged for Psychology students to attend the 27th annual meeting of the Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences. This organization, one of UAC’s longstanding partner organizations, offered students hands-on experience through volunteering at this conference. Students who had signed up a month before the conference traveled to Gyeongju, South Korea. It spanned 3 days, from October 15th to October 18th, at Gyeongju Hwaback International Convention Center (HICO).

The students were assigned a variety of responsibilities to support the overall operations of the conference. Responsibilities included setting up the lecture stage for Keynote speakers, operating devices for the keynote, managing the check-in desk, guiding booth assistance, ushering VIP guests and keynote speakers, setting up international booths, and serving as interpreters and liaisons for international keynote speakers and hosts. In addition to volunteering, they were allowed to attend formal sessions and gain exposure to real-world research in the field of neural sciences.

Through this conference experience, students were able to develop skills in responsibility, teamwork, and communication. Interacting not only with the team members but also with graduate students and professors from different institutions provided them with new perspectives on the field. The focus on neural sciences not only was especially valuable for students interested in neuropsychology, but also introduced intriguing aspects of the field to those who were less familiar with it.

We hope that the partnership with KSBNS will continue in the future and many Psychology students will benefit from it as they explore their interests across various branches of Psychology. Students eager to learn more about neuropsychology outside of school are encouraged to attend in the future!
