Utah Asia Campus at Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum


From September 29 to October 1, 2024, the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC), led by Chief Administrative Officer Gregory Hill, actively participated in the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum. This prestigious event, held in Jinju, the “Capital of Entrepreneurship,” attracted over 1,000 participants, including domestic and international business leaders, scholars, and students.

Highlighting UAC’s Commitment to Entrepreneurship

A delegation of around 60 UAC students, accompanied by four faculty members, took part in the forum, engaging deeply with the global entrepreneurship community. The participation of UAC representatives underscored the university’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and sustainable business practices.

His insights resonated strongly with the audience, elevating the profile of UAC and enhancing public recognition of its initiatives.

 

Hak-Yoon Kim, Assistant Professor of Management, participated in the Forum as a panel discussant in the “Global Entrepreneurship Expert Session.” She presented on the integration of Eastern and Western business philosophies and the vital role of educators in preparing the next generation for a sustainable future.

Engaging Activities and Recognition

 

The Utah Asia Campus students participated in various forum activities, including visits to the Jinju K-Entrepreneurship Center and Jinju Seungsan Village—birthplaces of the founding chairmen of Samsung, LG, GS, and Hyosung.

They also explored Jinju Fortress, enjoyed a traditional Korean performance, attended a welcome reception, experienced the Jinju Night Tour, and engaged in three academic sessions. These sessions covered global entrepreneurship, transforming crises into opportunities, and the role of entrepreneurship in moral capitalism and sustainable growth.

Every student who attended the forum received a certificate of completion, presented by the Mayor of Jinju City, recognizing their active participation and engagement with business scholars and practitioners from around the world.

 

Building a Sustainable Future

Throughout the forum, the University of Utah Asia Campus business students delved into the realm of entrepreneurship, from foundational concepts to advanced discussions, exploring potential solutions for sustainable entrepreneurship. The David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah has been ranked No. 8 for undergraduate entrepreneurship (No. 5 among public schools) for 2025 by U.S. News & World Report, reflecting UAC’s dedication to academic excellence and entrepreneurial innovation.

The Jinju K-Entrepreneurship International Forum provided a unique platform for UAC students to enhance their understanding of global entrepreneurship and to network with industry leaders, paving the way for future entrepreneurial endeavors.
