World Knowledge Forum 2024

The University of Utah Asia Campus Career & Internship Development Center was proud to send a group of dedicated students to the prestigious World Knowledge Forum (WKF) held in Inspire Resort, Incheon —a global stage where thought leaders and innovators converge.  Entrusted with guiding VIP guests and supporting event logistics, our students volunteered as essential English-speaking aides, helping ensure smooth interactions and enriching attendee experiences.

The World Knowledge Forum is celebrated for driving global dialogue on pressing issues—spanning economics, technology, sustainability, and international policy . In this vibrant environment, students seized the opportunity to use their English communication skills to introduce speakers, assist VIPs, and facilitate important conversations among participants from across the world.

By taking on roles such as escorting high-profile guests, managing translation cues, and providing logistical support, students weren’t just working—they were building professional poise, intercultural competence, and confidence in high-pressure settings. Their engagement mirrors the essence of skills-based volunteering, where applying talents in real-world cultural contexts fosters personal growth and enhances employability.

Reflecting on the event, students shared that working behind the scenes in an international forum gave them a new understanding of teamwork, adaptability, and professionalism. They saw firsthand how crucial communication is—especially when it comes to bridging language and cultural divides.

The UAC CIDC is proud to support these initiatives that empower students to step into global arenas, develop vital soft skills, and put theory into practice. As part of CIDC’s mission, volunteering at events like the WKF is more than community service—it’s career-building in motion.
