The Student Leadership & Involvement Center (SLIC) serves as a one-stop shop for involvement at UAC. Whether you want to join a student organization, work on your leadership skills or participate in diverse activities on campus, SLIC is the place for you!
The Student Leadership & Involvement Center (SLIC) hopes to foster student growth and development through co-curricular learning opportunities that teach and challenge students to develop, understand, and reflect upon their values, leadership skills and goals.
SLIC provides event advising to student organizations as well as co-curricular opportunities for student involvement. We strive to assist all students in developing an appreciation for diversity, responsibility, critical thinking and sensible skills to become lifelong learners, productive citizens and community leaders.
Visit us on the 2nd floor, U206, next to the Student Lounge. The SLIC is open 24/7 but staff is available to consult with you from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM from Monday – Friday.
Programs Organized by the Student Leadership & Involvement Center (SLIC):
Café U is biweekly session that takes place every two weeks for an hour. Each session is framed a “hot topic” and is a space for intercultural understanding while fostering communication skills to empower global citizens to create a shared perspective.
Participants are expected to enter a Café U with an open mind and is encouraged to listen to other participants’ perspectives to encourage learning that comes from self-awareness. All are encouraged to ask questions and suspend judgement.
ULead workshops are organized for students to reach their full potential as leaders. SLIC will host these workshops to help student organization leaders and new students build their own capacity as leaders and to help form
SLIC will seek opportunities for students to be engaged with community service projects in order to become active members of their community. The benefit of this service has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service or volunteerism enables students to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.
UAC hosts Pride Week every Spring semester to educate students, faculty, and staff about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture pride. Programs will be organized in order to help educate the entire campus community
Leadership Consultants (LCs) are fellow students who are here to help students get involved at UAC. LCs will promote involvement opportunities, assist student organizations, serve as facilitators for diverse programs and workshops, and instruct students and organizations on how to use OrgSync. LCs will work on projects assigned individually and as a team.
