Seyoung Kim is an inter/multidisciplinary artist with diverse themes, including autoethnography, culture, gender, race, hypothetical theories, and social justice issues. She grew up and studied in London, United Kingdom, where she developed her focus on cultural, gender, and racial studies at Central Saint Martins. Her art practice goes beyond and far limitlessly in mixed-media forms, consisting of digital/visual art, installation, street performance, painting, and photography. Professor Kim’s recent exhibition in Seoul represents “race”, “integration”, and “transformation” reinterpreted through surreal figures in photography. The Becoming series depicts two races forming as one physique manifesting the unification.

Kim’s interest in community engagement reflects her belief that art is a form of communication without language barriers. She actively demonstrates that through organizing community projects called ‘Art for Change’ and art/urban projects with a local arts and cultural foundation.With over a decade-long artist-teacher pedagogical experience, she delivers structured knowledge in practice and theory. Her inter/multidisciplinary identity also bestows unconventional approaches to subject matters, widening students’ perspectives by seeing objects from multiple directions.
Prof. Kim continuously seeks to inspire and be inspired and pursues a co-learning environment with students.
