Bio

Dr. Reazul Ahsan is an Associate Professor in the Department of City and Metropolitan Planning. In August of 2019, Dr. Ahsan joined the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor. He currently serves as an academic lead and coordinator of the Urban Ecology Program at the University of Utah's Asia Campus in Songdo, South Korea. Dr. Ahsan received his doctorate in urban and regional planning from the University of South Australia in 2013. From 2015 to 2016, he served as a research fellow for the "Malaysian Sustainable City Program" in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2017, Dr. Reazul began working as a lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Australia in the Department of Environmental Humanities. Reazul was a research fellow at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman and Kyoto University, Japan, prior to entering the City and Metropolitan Planning Department. His primary research interests include sustainable urban planning, environmental planning, smart urbanism, urban environmental management, climate-adaptive community design, and urban ecological planning.

Over the past fourteen years, he has worked in higher education in Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Dr. Reazul was awarded an Asian Development Bank Scholarship (2001-2003), an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship (2006-2008), and a University President Scholarship (2009-2013) for his Master's and PhD studies.  For more https://sites.google.com/view/reazulahsan/?pli=1
