Students enrolled in PSY 3330: Clinical Stress Science participated in a field trip to Ganghwado on May 8, 2026, where they explored stress management and relaxation techniques in a peaceful natural environment.
The trip gave students the opportunity to apply concepts from the classroom through hands-on learning experiences focused on stress reduction and emotional well-being. Throughout the day, students practiced a variety of relaxation techniques and discussed how these approaches can support overall mental and physical health.
One of the key activities included using biofeedback technology to measure heart rate variability, an important physiological indicator related to stress and emotional regulation. Students also practiced heart-focused breathing and heart-focused feeling exercises designed to encourage relaxation and mindfulness. In addition, students were introduced to Jin Shin Jyutsu, a Japanese healing practice that uses gentle touch to promote balance and well-being.
Beyond the academic activities, students enjoyed Korean barbecue for lunch and participated in a wellness walk through a scenic garden café. Although the weather was windy, the clear skies and sunshine created a calm and refreshing atmosphere throughout the trip.

The field trip provided students with a meaningful opportunity to connect scientific concepts with real-world applications while building community outside the classroom. By combining experiential learning with wellness practices, the experience deepened students’ understanding of stress management and holistic well-being.
