Professor Whisenant has been teaching communications for the past six years at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Prior to and concurrent to his time in academics, he worked in media law for several organizations including the Media Law Resource Center, Time Warner Cable, Basic Research and Candlelight Media Group.

After earning his degree in comparative literature from Brigham Young University, Professor Whisenant began working for U.S. Senator Orrin G. Hatch in Washington, D.C. He then spent several years working as a business journalist prior to receiving a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Immediately thereafter, he continued to attend school, receiving a JD from the University of Utah.

Professor Whisenant is originally from Utah and is an enthusiastic road biker and skier. He is looking forward to his time on the UAC Campus.
