Urban Ecology Student Works Exhibition to Showcase Innovative Design Futures in Songdo, Incheon

The Urban Ecology Program at the University of Utah Asia Campus will present a student design exhibition highlighting innovative urban design projects developed in recent studio courses.

Opening on March 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Yeonsu-gu Office in Incheon, the exhibition brings together student work from 2024 and 2025, featuring models, posters, and design proposals that address real-world urban challenges through creative and research-driven approaches.

The exhibition centers around two key themes. “Songdo 2050: Waterfront Futures” explores forward-looking scenarios for Songdo’s evolving waterfront, with a focus on sustainability and human-centered design. The “Cottonwood Heights Sister Park Project” highlights an international collaboration between Yeonsu-gu (Incheon) and Cottonwood Heights, Utah, demonstrating how cross-cultural partnerships can inform public space design and strengthen global connections.

Guided by Studio Instructor Dr. Idil Ayral, students engaged with pressing urban issues while developing design solutions that bridge academic inquiry and community impact. The exhibition also underscores the role of academic design studios as platforms for dialogue between cities, institutions, and local communities.

The opening reception will include remarks by the U Asia Campus’ Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Greg Hill, and the Mayor of Yeonsu-gu, along with participation from local officials. The exhibition is free and open to the public, and will remain on view through March 27, 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to experience how student-led design can help shape the future of urban environments.
