[UAC Student Spotlight] Kickstarting the Semester: Highlights from the Activities and Club Fair

As the new semester kicks off, many students are eager to explore extracurricular opportunities and find clubs that match their interests. To help with this, University of Utah Asia Campus hosted its Activities and Club Fair, bringing together a wide variety of student organizations and enthusiastic participants!

The Activities & Club Fair was filled with energy as student groups showcased their activities, welcoming new and returning members. Students had the chance to explore different clubs, from academic societies to hobby-based groups, and get firsthand insights into what each club offers.

From Busy Bee (Business Club) for aspiring entrepreneurs to UFO Studio (YouTube Content Creating Club) for creative minds, students had plenty of exciting options to choose from. Sports enthusiasts could check out Utah Devils (Baseball Club), while those passionate about dance found their place in U Go Girl (Dance Club). For students interested in psychology and mental health, PSY-CO-PASS (Psychology Club) offered a great community to engage with.

One of the highlights of the event was the live performance by the band club, creating a dynamic and festival-like atmosphere. Attendees also enjoyed popcorn and slushies, making the experience even more exciting.

Students Share Their Experiences

To capture the event’s spirit, I spoke with two students about their thoughts on joining clubs this semester.

📌 Interview with Ji-Hyun Kim (Urban Ecology Major)

Q: What kind of club are you most interested in?
🗣 There are so many great options, so I’m still deciding! But I’m particularly looking for a club where I can gain practical experience and learn new things.

Q: What is the most important factor for you when choosing a club?
🗣 For me, the activities themselves matter the most. I want to have meaningful and fun experiences, so a club with engaging events and projects is ideal. Of course, the club’s atmosphere and people are also important!

Q: Did the Activities & Club Fair help you find the information you needed?
🗣 Yes! I got to learn about each club’s activities and culture, which helped me make a more informed decision.

📌 Interview with Rose (Film & Media Arts Major)

Q: Have you participated in any club activities before?
🗣 Yes! I’ve been involved in several clubs, including some at other schools. Currently, I’m looking to try new ones this semester.

Q: What is the most important factor you consider when choosing a club?
🗣 The most important thing for me is finding a community that is open and welcoming to a variety of group of students. I think it’s more interesting to be a part of an inclusive club rather than one where everyone has the same talents and interests. Ultimately, for me, a club is relaxed, social space rather than something intensive.

The Activities & Club Fair was a great way to start the semester, offering students opportunities to connect, get involved, and build lasting friendships. With so many exciting clubs to choose from, I hope everyone finds a community where they can grow, explore new interests, and make unforgettable memories at UAC!

Stay tuned for more campus updates—I’ll be back soon with more stories!
