The University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC), led by Chief Administrative Officer Gregory Hill, host a three-day event from September 26 to 28, 2024, to commemorate its 10th anniversary. This celebration will reflect on the campus’s growth over the past decade and outline its vision for the future.
The event will be attended by over 100 distinguished guests, including Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Utah Senate President Stuart Adams, Jonathan Freedman, President and CEO of the World Trade Center Utah, and the University of Utah President Taylor Randall, alongside deans and leadership from the Salt Lake City campus. These representatives will discuss the achievements of the Asia Campus and explore ways to enhance educational and research collaboration between the U.S. and Korea.
The celebration will kick off on September 26 with tours of Songdo and Incheon, as well as a guided visit to the Utah Asia Campus. A carnival featuring live music, fun activities, and hands-on experiences for all ages will take place, followed by a BBQ party for students, faculty, staff, and their families. On the second day, September 27, guests will have the option to participate in a Seoul city tour or a workshop showcasing traditional Korean food and tea. Other highlights include an academic expo featuring various Asia Campus departments and a film screening of student works from the Film and Media Arts Department. The final day, September 28, will conclude with a 10th Anniversary Gala at Paradise City Hotel in Incheon.
Reflecting on the campus’s growth, Gregory Hill, Chief Administrative Officer of the UAC, remarked, “We began 10 years ago with just four departments and 13 students. Today, we offer nine undergraduate majors and one master’s program, with over 600 students currently enrolled in Korea. Our campus has worked closely with the Incheon community to position itself as a hub of global education and a key contributor to local development. We look forward to the next decade and beyond as we continue to innovate.”
The events on September 26 and 27 are open to not only University of Utah staff and faculty but also members of the Incheon Global Campus and the local community. Attendance is free for those who register in advance, offering Incheon residents a unique opportunity to experience the world-class education and culture that the University of Utah has to offer.
