U Asia Campus

35% International. 100 Exchange Students. One U.

Two numbers tell the story of Spring 2026 at the University of Utah Asia Campus: 35 and 100.

Thirty-five percent of the new incoming class—about 200 students total—are international, representing countries including the United States, China, Russia, Canada, the Philippines and Mongolia. At the same time, approximately 100 students from the University of Utah’s Salt Lake City campus are studying this semester in Songdo through the university’s exchange program.

Together, those numbers reflect something larger than enrollment growth. They signal the continued evolution of the “One U” model—two campuses, one academic community.

During orientation held Feb. 23–26 at Incheon Global Campus, new students met faculty, registered for courses and were introduced to the academic and student life resources that define the Utah experience in Korea. Small, discussion-based classes and close faculty mentorship remain central to the campus identity.

“You are joining the Asia Campus at one of the most dynamic moments in its history,” said Gregory Hill, chief administrative officer of the University of Utah Asia Campus. “Under the spirit of One U, Utah and Songdo are connected as one community.”

For many students, that connection is the draw.

I was excited about experiencing an American-style classroom in Korea. I’m looking forward to discussion-based classes where students actively participate.”

said Yoonji Shim, a first-year communication major.

Janaki Spaulding, an exchange student from the Salt Lake City campus, said studying in Songdo offers both independence and familiarity.

It’s an international city, but I still feel like I’m part of the University of Utah. That balance makes this experience unique.”

With shared faculty, curriculum and degree pathways, the Asia Campus remains fully integrated into the University of Utah’s global academic mission.
